Bakti Desa

Bakdes is one of the school’s program that is held annually. It is an activity where students of 3 Senior High School are grouped and sent to a village to help people that live in the village. This time, we went to Cibereum. We form groups of three and each group got their own host parent in Cibereum, we stayed in the village for 3 days.

I was grouped with Nur and Aliya. We stayed at one of the villager’s house. Actually we are supposed to help our host parent’s job. However, since my host parent already retired, we just helped her to take care of the house, like cooking and cleaning. My host parent’s daughter is a teacher at Muhammadiyah High School in Cibereum and her granddaughter is a student at junior high school.
On the first day, upon arriving at Cibereum, we gathered at the village hall and hear the head of the village’s speech about Bakdes. After that, we went to each of our host and then we chatted with our host parent until afternoon. On the evening we took a walk around the village while sharing foods and supplies to those in need in the village. It was tiring but also very fun. We visited our other friend’s host and take a walk around the village. Before we went to the mosque to pray maghrib, we helped our host parent to cook for dinner. We returned back to the house at about 8 p.m. We have dinner together and after that we slept at about 10 p.m.

The next day, we visited our friend’s host and we went to Situ Cisanti, we took some photos there until midday, after we returned, we visited the high school my host parent’s daughter worked in. We only spent a little time there cause we were afraid that we will bother them. On the evening we gather at the village’s hall. There, we had several activities like the explanation of modern farming and machinery like tractor. After that, we got back to our host and helped cook dinner. Just like last evening we went to pray until about 9 p.m. , have dinner and then went to sleep.

The next day, before we went home, we went to the river and play for some time. The road to the river was rough, but it was worth it. We went back to our host at the afternoon and then prepare to go home. We finally got back home together to 3 senior high school.
